Distribution center with 11,200 pallet AS/RS accelerates CNC production rate

BEIJING-FANUC Mechatronics CO., LTD., Head Office: Beijing, China was established in 1992 and started full-scale operations in February 1993. The company is based in Haidian District, located in the northwestern suburbs of Beijing, and has a role in the production of computerized numerical control (CNC) systems and other products. In April 2015, the company became the first Chinese CNC equipment manufacturer to establish and operate a new distribution center for parts equipped with a U/L AS/RS.

Storage capacity of over 10,000 pallets, realizing smooth storage / retrieval working together with Sorting Transfer Vehicles (STV)

In addition to supplying parts to the factory located in the same site, the new center will also serve as a supply base for products and parts to be delivered to customers in China. With the start of operations, the new center significantly increases the production capacity of the factory and can supply products to customers in a more accurate and timely manner.

The center is a three-story structure, with AS/RSs set up in a three-floor atrium. There are seven "Rack Master" stacker cranes with a storage capacity of 11,200 pallets. Each floor is equipped with STV high-speed transfer carts for load handling, greatly reducing the need for forklift trucks to carry loads tentatively in the site. This ensures smooth storage /retrieval and a safe and clean work environment.

On the second floor, there is a production line for CNC equipment using FANUC’s own robots. It is a reproduction of a part of FANUC's world-class unmanned factory; after the parts are inducted, all processes are fully automated, allowing for multi-product and mixed production. These procedures raise their production capacity and the quality of manufactured products to a higher level.
