The family temple for General Oda
Kigakurin Banshouji Temple was founded by Oda Nobuhide (Nobunaga's father) in 1540 as a family temple of the Oda family. The temple has a strong connection with warlords such as Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu, making it an attractive spot for history buffs. The temple is located in the center of the lively Osu Shopping Street, which is always crowded with people, and various events are regularly held.
Why columbarium
Banshoji Temple offers a wide variety of columbarium halls that can be selected according to the burying style, worship style and budget, symbolizing the diversification of memorial services today. They built their first columbarium in 2008, followed by a new concept columbarium, the Shosuden, in 2009. Its beautiful presentation and security features have attracted a lot of media attention.
The largest columbarium in Japan
Completed in 2017, the Hakuryukan replaced the old wooden temple halls built during the post-war reconstruction period. The Sairen columbarium is located in the basement and its 12000 housing capacity is the largest in Japan. The facility is equipped with the latest technology, including Japan's first face recognition system.
