Jervis B. Webb Company (hereinafter “Webb”), a Daifuku Group company that operates predominantly in North America, officially opened the Airport & AGV Innovation Center, a demonstration center for airport systems and Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs), in April 2023.

  • *Jervis B. Webb Company changed its name to Daifuku Airport America in January 2024.

The center is the only facility in the U.S. where Daifuku Airport Technologies’ systems and six models of Webb’s AGVs are on permanent display, all of which are available for hands-on operation. Visitors can experience up close the integrated flow of Daifuku’s airport systems, starting from baggage check-in and security checks, through to baggage transport and storage. The facility is used to give tours, with visitors including airlines, airport officials, and automobile manufacturers, and is also used for component testing and integration partner training.

The center is also equipped with a training facility, enabling it to provide training programs for customers, as well as Webb’s own engineers, focusing on AGV installation, operation, and maintenance in the distribution and manufacturing industries.

  • Various types of AGVs are on display, including automated forklifts.

The market for automated airport systems in the United States continues to be robust, and as airports continue to streamline their operations, we expect to see further growth in demand for not only our self bag drops and baggage handling systems, but also our automated screening lanes that received certification by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in 2023. In addition, the AGV market is predicted to grow even further thanks to the increasing need for automation in factories and warehouse facilities. The Airport & AGV Innovation Center will help us address these growing needs as we continue to provide value to our customers through our cutting-edge material handling solutions.
