Daifuku Webb Improves Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems with New Anti-Sway and Adaptive and Controls

FARMINGTON HILLS, MICH. (September 20, 2013)

– Daifuku Webb, one of the largest material handling companies in the world, announces anti-sway and adaptive controls that increase throughput and reduce downtime for its automated storage & retrieval systems (AS/RS).

Daifuku Webb’s controls significantly reduce the swaying of cranes, which decreases idle time and increases throughput for its AS/RS.  The high speeds of today’s AS/RS can cause the masts of the equipment to sway, resulting in downtime while the system waits for the masts to settle.  Daifuku Webb’s perfect S-Shape speed control enables smooth acceleration transition and improved load stability.

Adaptive controls enable the AS/RS to continue running during non-serious errors such as over-current or load overhang.  For example, if a crane has an over-current, instead of shutting down the entire system, the controls reduce machine speed and acceleration automatically.  Similarly, temporary load overhang does not shut down the system entirely but rather allows time for the protrusion sensor to be checked automatically versus requiring manual intervention.

Anti-sway and adaptive controls are available on all Daifuku Webb AS/RS including mini load, unit load and DUOSYS.
